About Pemberton

A timber town in the heart of the karri forest

Pemberton is nestled in the magnificent karri forest, with crystal-clear streams, excellent trout fishing on the Warren River and – in spring – colourful displays of wildflowers.

Long before the town was settled, the area was home to the Bibbulmun people. Pemberton began life as a timber town, established in 1913 and named after one of its earliest settlers, Pemberton Walcott. In the 1920s, free land offered to group settlers brought a population boom and a new dairy industry.

With craft galleries, local produce and a quiet, restful township, it’s the perfect place to experience the flavour of the countryside.
